How is the line created in absence? My attention is drawn to the untouched spaces of the canvas. The quiet parts of emptiness that scream for attention. These in-between zones, where contrasting gestures of paint collide, is where the rawest material emerges. I seek the proximity of these techniques; where transparent wash exposes the ghost of an opaque layer beneath; where a bodily gesture collides with a sharp architectural edge; where stillness is confused with movement.
My work explores the dialogue between painterly languages - shape against line, gesture beside geometry, flow interrupting carefulness. It is a story of constant negotiation with materiality and what I can discover in the spaces not thought of.
